Privacy Policy

Who We Are
CindieForge is an indie game studio. This policy covers our website at cindieforge.com and our games, including From Embers and any other titles we publish on Steam or other platforms.
What Data We Collect
Website
- We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
- We do not collect personal information through our website unless you voluntarily provide it, for example by creating a player account (see below) or contacting us via email or Discord.
- Our hosting provider (Netlify) may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance purposes.
Player Accounts
You can create a free CindieForge account to play our browser games. One account works across every game, and your sign-in carries between them.
- We collect your email address and, optionally, a display name you choose. We use these only to sign you in, keep you signed in across our games, and link your saved game progress to your account.
- Accounts and sign-in are handled by Supabase, our authentication and database provider. Supabase stores your email, a securely hashed password, and your display name in our project's database, hosted by Supabase in the United States (North Virginia). Your password is hashed. We never see or store it in plain text.
- Some games save your progress to your account (so it follows you between devices). That saved data is tied to your account and stored in the same Supabase database.
- We do not use your account email for marketing, and we do not sell or share it. Transactional emails (confirming your address, resetting your password) may be sent on our behalf by Supabase or an email-delivery provider.
- You can change your display name anytime on your account page, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time (see Your Rights below).
Games on Steam
- Our games may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics data (e.g., play sessions, feature usage) to help us improve gameplay. This data is not personally identifiable.
- We do not collect, store, or process personal information through our games.
- Steam itself collects data as described in Valve's Privacy Policy. We do not control or have access to that data.
Browser-Based Games
- Games embedded on our website may use browser local storage to save your game progress. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
How We Use Data
Any data we collect is used solely to:
- Operate and improve our website and games
- Respond to support requests or inquiries
- Ensure the security and stability of our services
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
We may use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
- Supabase: account authentication and database. Stores your account email, hashed password, display name, and any saved game progress on our behalf.
- Steam (Valve Corporation): game distribution and community features
- Netlify: website hosting
- Discord: community communication
We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
Children's Privacy
Our games and website are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Data Retention
We retain any data we collect only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Anonymous analytics data may be retained indefinitely in aggregate form.
If you create an account, we keep your account data (email, display name, and saved game progress) until you delete your account or ask us to delete it, after which it is removed from our active systems.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Object to or restrict processing
- Data portability
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our website or games after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
